Ellen Cook (awa/ana)
Ellen is a retired Cree teacher who has taught in 6 communities in Manitoba (five First Nations and one provincial) and for 23 years in the North End of Winnipeg. She is a traditional knowledge and language keeper belonging to Misipawistik Cree nation. Ellen was also awarded an honorary doctorate from U of M St John’s College for her work with the language and advocacy for Indigenous peoples. She is concerned for the environment and the future generations who believe in restoration of the land that has been destroyed by industry and corporations.
